Zhanyang Li

Li Zhanyang (李占扬)is a professor in Shandong University and aPh. D. student advisor. He is also a member ofChineseSociety ofVertebratePaleontology, an Archaeological LeaderofNational BureauofCulturalRelics, an Excellent Expert of NationalMinistry of Culture. He has received an individual second-class merit and specialgovernmentallowance. From 1993 to 1997, he took in charge of survey, excavation and research ondinosaur egg fossilsin Xixia Basin, Henan Province, discovering andidentifyingtens of thousands ofdinosaur egg fossils. This find was selected as one of Top 10 Technological News all the world in 1993. From 2005 to 2018, he has conducted archaeological excavations of Lingjing Xuchang Man site.Twohuman crania and bones of 5 individuals from about 100ka were uncovered from excavations, which became one of“Top 10 Advances in Chinese Science in 2017”,“Top 10 Advances in ChinesePaleontologyin 2017”and“Top 10 New Archaeological Finds of China in 2007”. In 2017, Professor Li Zhanyang organized the first archaeological team on origins of modern human and carried out archaeological excavations and surveys in Kenya, east Africa. So far, he has published more than 80 academic papers on peer-reviewed journals at home and abroad and also published 6 academic monographs and popular science books. In March 2017, he published a paper titled with“Late Pleistocene archaic human crania from Xuchang, China” onScienceas first author, which had great academic influences on academia all over the world.
